Booting into single user mode
option allows to reset forgotten root password.
Step 1: Boot the linux
machine and during the grub stage hit return. Press e to edit the command before booting.
Step 2: Press e to edit the selected command in the boot sequence.
Step 3: Append 1 at the end of line to start-up machine in
single user mode
Step 4: Press b to
boot the machine
Step 5: Boot will take couple of moment. Once root prompt
come up change the root user password to desired one using passwd command.
